1. 造謠

謠言：rumor /'rʊmɚ/

但“造謠”可不是make a rumor！

make只能表達 “編造出謠言”，想表達 “編造并傳播” 謠言，地道的說法是 “start a rumor”。

I see Adam's hand in this , It would be just like him to start such a rumor .

我看得出來亞當在背后搞鬼，散布這種謠言很像他的作風。

Who started the rumor that I’m pregnant?

誰造的謠說我懷孕了？

He started the rumor to embarrass me.

他造謠就是為了讓我難堪。

此外，造謠還可以用：cook up a story來表示↓↓↓

cook up =虛構(gòu)，偽造。

"Tell me why you were late getting to school, and don't cook up a story that I won't believe, " Matthew's mother said.

“告訴我為什么上學遲到了，別編造，我不會相信的。”馬休的媽媽說。

2. 辟謠

英文中，用refute the rumor來表示“辟謠”。

Why didn't he refute the rumor？

他為啥不辟謠？

She finally came up and refuted the rumors about her family.

她最終還是站出來辟謠了關(guān)于她家庭的謠言。

那么，“微博辟謠”，又應該怎么表達呢？

文中的Weibo Refutes Rumors就是指“微博辟謠”，也可以稱為rumor refutal。

謠言散布群體常稱為rumor mill（謠言工廠，流言簿）。

Rumor可以直接作動詞，如：

It is rumored that she has committed suicide.

據(jù)傳聞，她已自殺身亡。
