Nanjing residents, visitors from Japan and South Korea, and Chinese and Japanese monks, lit 3,000 red candles during an assembly praying for peace last night at the Memorial Hall of the Victims in the Nanjing Massacre in the capital City of Jiangsu Province.

The ceremony was held to mourn the 300,000 people killed by invading Japanese troops 74 years ago in the Nanjing Massacre, also known as the Rape of Nanking.

昨晚，在江東門紀(jì)念館內(nèi)的祭場(chǎng)上，3000支紅燭在微風(fēng)中搖曳，長(zhǎng)明火映照在祭場(chǎng)四周的一座座無(wú)字紀(jì)念碑上。每年一度的“平安夜為南京大屠殺遇難同胞守靈”活動(dòng)正在這里舉行。

參加這次活動(dòng)的除了南京市民代表，還有來(lái)自韓國(guó)、日本等地的國(guó)際友好人士，以及江東門小學(xué)的師生代表共約150人。

南京大屠殺，英文就是Nanjing Massacre,另外,Rape of Nanking也是南京大屠殺的意思。massacre就是大屠殺的意思，不過(guò)在這句話中，massacre就有慘敗的意思:The game was a complete massacre.

moure的意思就是哀悼，憂傷，服喪的意思。invading Japanese troops就是侵華日軍的意思。invade是侵略，擁入，侵害的意思。troop做動(dòng)詞有群集，結(jié)對(duì)，成群前往的意思；而作名詞則有軍隊(duì)，群，組，大量的意思。
